What is this website?: EVE Cookbook is an industry build calculator for EVE Online, with a cookbook-style approach 🧑‍🍳
It calculates all the materials required for your build configuration, including the required reaction jobs.
You can also get detailed build steps by turning on the "Show detailed build steps" option.
Where do the data and prices come from?: Blueprints and materials come from EVE Online's Static Data Export (SDE), which is updated after game patches. Market prices are the best Jita buy and sell orders from EVE Online's API, refreshed about once an hour.
Results are estimates, so please double-check important numbers in game before committing ISK to a build.
Why is the build cost of a single item much higher than the same build with 10+ runs?: That's expected. Just like cooking in real life, it is usually more economical to cook one large batch, so you don't end up with excess ingredients.
This is especially true for T2 ammo, modules and components: their materials often require a minimum number of reaction job runs, which leaves excess materials.
Also, the markets for small, cheap, low-end items are already so competitive and saturated that the only way to profit is to produce in larger batches.
What is the "Most profitable" page?: It ranks blueprints by the profit you could make, using the same build cost calculation as the cookbook. Every build is calculated once an hour for 20 units with an ME 0 blueprint, ME 10 components, a T1-rigged Raitaru and no facility tax, in a fixed solar system whose current cost index is shown on the page.
Use Rank by to choose what matters to you: profit per unit (Jita sell price minus build cost), margin (that profit as a percentage of the sell price), or depth profit. Depth profit answers "how much would I make if I built everything the market is willing to buy?": it counts every unit the Jita buy orders pay more than your build cost for, and sells each one at the price of its buy order. That surfaces items with a smaller margin but a lot of demand.
Jita prices are snapshots refreshed every few hours, and sales tax, broker fees and BPC costs (copying and invention) are not included, so please double-check the numbers in game before you commit.
Why are some items missing from the "Most profitable" page?: Officer, faction, abyssal, limited-time and storyline items are left out because the price of their blueprint copies is not part of the SDE, so their build cost would look far too good. The same goes for anything whose blueprint you cannot buy on the market or get through invention, such as blueprint copies that only come from quests or the LP store.
Do you provide an API so I can integrate the build calculation into my tool or spreadsheet?: Yes, check out the API documentation here.
Is there a Discord bot?: Yes. The EVE Cookbook bot has the slash command /calculate-build-cost, which returns the build cost of a blueprint in a solar system of your choice, with autocomplete for both. There is also /ping to check its latency.
Do I need to log in?: No, the calculator is free and works without an account. Logging in with EVE Online (EVE SSO) is optional and only needed for the Job manager, and to show the jobs you already have running in the components breakdown. It only requests read access to your industry jobs and skills, and we never see your EVE password.
You can remove linked characters at any time in Config → Characters. See the privacy policy for details.
Where is my stock list stored?: Your stock list, components blacklist and skill settings stay in your own browser. Only the settings needed for a calculation are sent to the server, and they are not saved there.

These terms apply to EVE Cookbook: the website at evecookbook.com, its public API and its Discord bot (together, the "Service"). EVE Cookbook is a free, non-commercial fan tool for EVE Online, run by Celengan Babi (an EVE Online character), "we" or "us". By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

The Service

EVE Cookbook calculates the materials, job costs and build steps for manufacturing and reactions in EVE Online, using EVE Online's static data and market prices. The Service is free and needs no account. We may change, pause or stop any part of it at any time, for example for maintenance or when game data changes.

Calculations are estimates

Results are estimates for planning, not guarantees. Market prices are the best Jita buy and sell orders from EVE Online's API, refreshed about once an hour, and can differ from what you actually pay or earn. Game data, cost indices and bonuses change with EVE Online patches and may be out of date until we update them, and some mechanics are simplified. Check important numbers in game before you commit ISK to a build.

Using the API and the Discord bot

You're welcome to use the API and the Discord bot in your own tools and spreadsheets, as long as you:

stay within the rate limits: currently 20 requests per 5 seconds per IP address and up to 20 blueprints per request (use the bulk format for more);
don't try to overload, disrupt or get around the limits or security of the Service;
don't present the Service or its results as your own product or as official EVE Online data.

We may limit or block access that harms the Service or other users. The API is documented at evecookbook.com/api; its format may change, and we'll try to announce breaking changes on our Discord server first.

Logging in is optional and uses EVE Online's official single sign-on (EVE SSO); we never see your EVE account password. You can remove linked characters in Config → Characters or revoke access on EVE Online's authorized applications page. What we store and why is described in the privacy policy.

EVE Online and Fenris Creations

EVE Online and the EVE logo are trademarks of Fenris Creations (previously CCP Games). EVE Cookbook is a fan project that is not endorsed by or affiliated with Fenris Creations or CCP Games. Using the Service doesn't change your agreements with them, including the EVE Online End User License Agreement.

No warranty and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. We don't promise that it is always available, error-free or that its results are accurate. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from using the Service, including lost ISK, in-game assets or time. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

Links to other sites

The Service links to other sites, such as EVE Online, Discord and other community tools. We aren't responsible for their content or how they handle your data; their own terms and policies apply.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms, for example when the Service changes. The date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it. Questions? Contact us on our Discord server or send an EVE mail to Celengan Babi.

This policy explains what data EVE Cookbook (evecookbook.com, "we", "us") collects when you use the website and its API, why, and how long it is kept. EVE Cookbook is a free, non-commercial fan tool for EVE Online, run by Celengan Babi (an EVE Online character). We don't sell data, show ads, or build profiles of you.

Summary

You can use the calculator without an account. We then only keep short-lived server logs and, only if you accept it, Google Analytics data.
If you log in with EVE Online, we store your character's ID, name, corporation ID and an EVE SSO token so the Job manager can read your industry jobs and skills. You can remove this at any time.
Your stock list, components blacklist and skill settings stay in your own browser.

When you load a page, run a calculation or call the API, our web server records a standard access log entry: your IP address, the date and time, the requested URL (which includes the calculation settings), the referring page and your browser's user agent. We use these logs only to keep the service running, find errors and stop abuse. Server error logs may also contain the requested URL. API requests are rate limited per IP address; the request counter is kept in our cache for a few seconds.

The build settings you enter, including a pasted stock list, are sent to the server to calculate the result and are not saved there. Share links contain only those settings, never anything about you.

Logging in is optional. It's only needed for the Job manager and to show jobs you already have running in the components breakdown. It uses EVE Online's official single sign-on (EVE SSO), so we never see your EVE account password. With your permission, EVE SSO gives us access to these scopes:

publicData: your character's public information
esi-industry.read_character_jobs.v1 and esi-industry.read_corporation_jobs.v1: your character's and corporation's industry jobs
esi-skills.read_skills.v1: your character's skills, to work out industry slots and bonuses

For each character you link we store:

the character ID, character name and corporation ID;
which of your characters is the main one (so linked characters show up together);
an EVE SSO refresh token, used to fetch fresh data from EVE Online's API (ESI);
when the data was last refreshed, and any note you write in the Job manager.

Data fetched from ESI is cached briefly to keep the site fast: industry jobs for 15 minutes, skills for 1 day and character names for about a month. While you're logged in, a session on our server holds your current access token.

Cookies and browser storage

darkMode (1 year): remembers whether you use the dark or light theme.
PHPSESSID (until you close the browser): keeps you logged in after EVE SSO. Only set when you log in.
analyticsConsent (1 year): remembers whether you accepted or declined Google Analytics.
_ga and _ga_* (up to 2 years): Google Analytics. Only set if you accept it, and deleted again if you later decline.

Your stock list, components blacklist, skill levels and multibuy setting are kept in your browser's local storage and only leave your browser as part of a calculation request. You can clear them by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Third-party services

Cloudflare delivers the site and protects it against attacks. Every request passes through Cloudflare, which processes your IP address for that purpose. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
Google Analytics tells us which features are used, for example how often calculations, share links and multibuy are used. It only loads after you click Accept in the cookie notice; until then, and if you decline, no data is sent to Google. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. When it runs, Google receives your IP address and the pages you visit; Google Analytics 4 does not store or log IP addresses. See Google's privacy policy. The site works the same whether you accept or not.
Fenris Creations (previously CCP Games), the operator of EVE Online, runs EVE SSO, the ESI API and the EVE image server. Your browser loads item icons and character portraits directly from images.evetech.net, so they receive your IP address for those requests. See the Fenris Creations privacy policy.

Fonts and all other scripts are served from our own server.

How long we keep data

Access logs: rotated automatically; with current traffic they cover roughly the last two days.
Linked characters: until you remove them in Config → Characters. Removing a character deletes its token, note and cached skills and jobs straight away. Logging out ends your session but keeps your linked characters, so you don't have to link them again.
Cached ESI data: 15 minutes to about a month, as listed above.
Google Analytics: under the retention settings of our Google Analytics property.

You can also revoke EVE Cookbook's access at any time on EVE Online's authorized applications page. The stored token then stops working.

Your rights

You can ask us what data we hold about your characters, and ask us to correct or delete it. Most of this you can do yourself in Config → Characters. For anything else, contact us as described below. If you are in the European Union, you also have the right to object to processing, to data portability and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

We process data on these grounds: to provide the features you use (calculations, the Job manager), our legitimate interest in running a secure and working service (server logs, Cloudflare) and your consent (Google Analytics), which you can withdraw at any time under Cookie settings.

The site is not directed at children under 16.
